1. What’s the best way to contact you, Virginia?
Email, please. virginia@virginialucashart.com. Unless you receive an out-of-office message letting you know I’m away, I’ll get back to you within two business days. (Or sometimes within the hour!)
If you don’t hear from me, be sure to check your spam folder just in case my reply ended up there. When reaching out about a project, it’s helpful if you can include a few details, such as your deadline, the quantity you need, and any ideas you already have for the design, printing, or production methods. The more I know upfront, the better I can steer the ship.
If I’m not available for your project, I’ll be happy to point you toward another calligrapher or designer who may be a good fit.
2. What’s your pricing?
Because I offer a wide range of custom design services, each project comes with its own unique considerations. The best way to get started is to email me with a little about what you have in mind. I’ll be happy to provide a personalized quote tailored to your project.
If the quote fits within your budget and we both feel the project is a good fit, I’ll send over an invoice for the deposit to get things underway.
3. What’s your turnaround?
If you’re reaching out about a large project with a deadline just a week away, I likely won’t be able to accommodate your timeline. I typically book projects several months in advance, particularly for envelope calligraphy.
Speaking of, I only take on one envelope project at a time and generally require a minimum of 14 business days for turnaround. The exact timeline will depend on the quantity of envelopes and the specifics of your project, so I always recommend reaching out as early as possible to allow plenty of time for planning and completion.
4. How does the process work?
For many projects, we can communicate entirely via email. You share your ideas and needs, and I bring your vision to life. For more involved projects that span several months or longer, I’ll schedule a video consultation so we can discuss the details, establish a plan, and explore your preferences and vision together.
Every project begins with a detailed contract and timeline, so we’re on the same page about expectations, milestones, and deadlines. From there, we’ll typically communicate via email, with visual proofs shared throughout the process to ensure everything is coming together as envisioned and we’re aligned every step of the way.
5. Do you work with other stationers?
All the time. If you have a client for whom you think I’d be a good fit, I’d be happy to serve as a calligrapher or designer on the project while you continue to manage everything directly with your client.
6. Can I download your calligraphy to use?
I don’t currently offer a downloadable font based on my calligraphy, but I do offer custom calligraphy digitization! Whether you’d like to incorporate it into your invitation design or use it on products for your shop, I can create a one-of-a-kind digital version of my handwritten calligraphy, tailored to your needs.
